Nights have been getting chilly in Manila. I find myself bringing a sweater with me everywhere I go. It’s also the kind of cold when I just want to snuggle in our couch with my husband, enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and stare dreamily at the lights on our Christmas tree. It’s sweater weather and also cuddle weather. Today’s Craft for Christmas certainly puts these two elements together. I made a Christmas pillowcase and here’s how:
1. Using an old red sweater, I made a snug pillowcase for one Of Summer and Emma’s small pillows that they don’t use anymore. Because it’s small, all I did was cut out one of the sleeves of the old sweater and simply insert the pillow through. It’s up to you if you want to sew the ends shut or just leave it as is, just like what I did with mine.
2. I cut out the letters J, O and Y from a different fabric (One that’s colorful and happy! It’s the same one I used for our fabric wrapped Christmas ornaments.) and used hot glue to stick it on the pillowcase.
3. Finally, I sewed the outline of the letters to secure them. I think the stitching makes it look prettier too!
I don’t usually sew and it’s something I’ve been wanting to work on. So this project was a good practice. I enjoyed it quite a bit and I’m happy to have such a cute, joyful little pillow to add color and cheer to our couch!
Wishing you a very merry, crafty Christmas full of hugs and cuddles! 🙂
