I think many of you parents who are reading this will agree when I say that celebrating a child's birthday represents another milestone reached, not only for the child but for the parents as well. Last month, my Summer turned four. Yes, FOUR! While it's hard for me to believe it has been that long, I also feel relieved that Kayo and I have made it this far at parenting. I'm not saying that we're experts or that we've done a perfect job but I'm thankful that we've managed to develop a strong relationship with our first born and that she's healthy, undoubtedly happy and astoundingly Read More
Craft & Crepes
Fresh flowers, crafts, a crepe bar, delicious drinks and wonderful company at a lovely restaurant on a sunny Saturday — just the right ingredients to make a blissful event! And that's exactly what our workshop with Make it Blissful last July 26 was composed of. It was part of Make it Blissful's Craft & Crepes series which happens at La Creperie. This one was held at the Salcedo branch which was a perfectly inspiring spot for crafting. Thirteen ladies joined me make some inspirational fabric banners which were meant to be hung up on a wall in their rooms or work spaces. Days prior to Read More
Party People
Amazed. Overwhelmed. Grateful. Excited. In four words, it's how I basically feel about this little craft movement Mia Sison and I started just a couple of months ago. Before our first ever Craft Party, which happened in May, we hoped it would turn out well enough so people would, at least, be interested in joining another one. And to our surprise, the response has been wonderful! So, yes, we did a second run on July 4th, and this time, a fun, quirky and craft-friendly Korean restaurant at Estancia Mall, called I Am Kim, was kind enough to let us use their space, as well as feed us their yummy Read More
Drawing with Kuya Robert
It's always exciting to be in a room full people who are passionate about art and making. I always come out of it fuller. And that's exactly my experience last June 28 when I attended Hey Kessy's newest washi tape launch designed by the very talented Robert Alejandro at the Hey Kessy studio. A specific mix of people where there — designers, crafters, letterists, illustrators, art lovers, some were Mansy's long time friends, others she only very recently met online — but every single one eager to learn and to grow. I believe I'm speaking for every one of us there when I say that we learned Read More
Hang Up Some Inspiration!
Ten days to go before my Make Your Own Inspirational Banner workshop with Make it Blissful! I'm really excited because this is the first time I'm sharing this particular craft project and there is just a long list of creative things one can do with them! I enjoy making these banners because you can turn a quote or keywords, an image or even just a letter to make your very own. Use it to spruce up an empty wall or a work space and let it inspire, get you going or simply be something pretty that makes you happy. :) We have one in our bedroom, just above the head of our bed that simply says Read More
An Art Party For Alonzo
I'm not a professional party stylist or event coordinator, but kids parties are one of my favorite projects. I only really do it for my children, nieces and nephews but on occasion, friends ask for my help and if they could hire me for their children's birthday parties. Just like a few months ago, when our friend Viva Guzman asked me if I could facilitate some craft activities for her son Alonzo's first birthday party, I most gladly obliged. And eventually, as we exchanged emails, she decided to have me make some decoration as well. It was great that she brought it up with me months in advance Read More
The Juice Hut Craft Party
Yes! I get to update my blog! Ha! The last month has been amazingly crazy and ultra busy that I have been having difficulty squeezing in some writing time. But I finally got to make it happen, so allow me take you back to a month ago and tell you about my first ever event in collaboration with Juice Hut — The Juice Hut Craft Party! It's actually funny how this came about. It happened one afternoon when Mia, JH owner, and I were exchanging emails, talking about work, as usual, but also sharing with each other our hopes and dreams for our respective passions and creative pursuits. We do Read More
Flowers For My Moms
For Mother's day, I decided to make small paintings for my Mom and my Mother in law. Both of them have been asking me for an artwork for some time now but I haven't been confident enough to do it. I always feel like I need more practice or I don't really know what I can paint that will be good enough. Kayo said I should just do it and start small. Make something that is not so complex so I can make it really nice. Thanks to #The100DayProject, I have been able to practice sketching and drawing the last five weeks. So a few nights before Mother's day, I decided to just go for it and make our Read More
A Summer Art Class in Accolade
Summer and Emma are fortunate to have a lot of playmates at the condominium where we live. Many of them enjoy arts and crafts too, and once in a while, a handful of them would come over our unit to join me and my daughters work on some art projects. They always enjoy our afternoon craft sessions and I'm just as pleased to share with them the things my daughters and I love to do. At one or two occasions, I bump into the moms of some of these kids down the hall or at the building lobby and they thank me for giving their daughters a fun afternoon with my kids. Of course, I eventually get to Read More
Summer Stamps
Making rubber stamps is a fun and therapeutic activity. But for me, that's really only the first part. After making them, figuring out what to use them for is just as fun. In fact, many people ask me this question: If I learn to make a stamp, what do I do with it? My answer to that – quite a lot! With my stamps, I am able to create my own stationery and postcards. I also use my stamps for scrapbooking and journaling, to personalise notebooks, create patterns on large sheets of paper to use for wrapping presents and with some textile ink, I can stamp on canvas bags and other fabric Read More
