I read somewhere that consistently grateful people are happier and more satisfied with their lives. It also helps create a generous spirit in us. Therefore, gratitude is a virtue I would definitely want to develop in my children. Summer, who just turned two, cannot even pronounce "Thank you" properly yet. She says "tenchu" or something like that, but it makes me happy every time she says it without me having to remind her. Being consistently grateful is a quality even I have not perfected but I'm working on it and learning along side my girls. The week after Summer's birthday party, I Read More
Dylan’s Farmers Market Birthday Party
Our nephew, Dylan, also Kayo's godson, celebrates his birthday the day after Summer's. So our family has been on party mode all month. Dylan's party was held yesterday and his Mom, Amy, came up with the coolest party theme: Farmers Market! She put all the effort in putting together a delicious food buffet and it really turned out looking great. There were fresh fruit and vegetables, candied walnuts (winner!), bread, corn on the cob, homemade baby back ribs (another winner!), muffins, fried tofu, a bottomless supply of yummy dalandan juice and instead of the traditional birthday cake, Dylan had Read More
Summer’s Safari Party
"Wayon, zeebor, jaff, ippo…(Lion, zebra, giraffe, hippo…)" That's Summer naming her favorite animals. She's been really into animals and so when it was time for me and Kayo to plan her second birthday party, it was easy to come up with a theme we knew she'd love. Our little "Summer's Safari" party was last Sunday, August the 25th, at my parents-in-law's warm and lovely home. Thankfully, despite a little rain, it turned out well and most of the people we invited made it safe and dry. Summer seemed to have enjoyed a lot herself and I was very pleased with the outcome. The truth is that I had Read More
Emma’s Christening Party: Pretty and Personal
Last week, my four month old baby girl, Emma Louise, was finally baptised. We welcomed her to the Catholic Church and celebrated with family and close friends at one of my favorite places to eat in our neighborhood, The Clubhouse. We usually hold parties at home and make decor ourselves but holding this one at a different venue did not stop me from crafting little pieces to make the event more personal and, of course, pretty! My sister-in-law, Martine of DaintyMom, contributed a bunch of lovely lovely washi tapes from Paper Chic Studio which I went crazy with! I realized there are so many Read More
Summer’s First: A Rubber Ducky Party
I’ve always loved children and even as a teenager, I already dreamed of throwing my own kids party. So imagine my delight when I finally had my own kid! A few months before Summer’s actual birthday I started planning and “pinning” ideas. Since our bubbly baby girl recently acquired a huge liking for Sesame Street and has always enjoyed taking baths, her Papa and I decided on a Rubber Ducky theme. I searched for other Rubber Ducky themed children’s parties online for more ideas and also made a list of things Summer liked and would enjoy to see at her party such as balloons and bubbles. Here Read More
