The level of crazy at home has gone up a whole 'nother level since baby Jo arrived over three months ago. In case you are unaware, I have two other daughters, both under the age of four, and I am also a stay at home mom with no helper or nanny. With the new baby, I'm nursing round the clock, every three to four hours, on top of all the household chores, toddler activities and graphic design work. You probably think I'm crazy for getting myself into this but it was a decision my husband and I made from the very start. Aside from the fact that having a maid or yaya is expensive, we are Read More
Let The Joyful Celebrations Begin!
Just a few more hours to go before Christmas and tonight, we feast! After hearing Christmas Eve Mass, Kayo, the girls and I will go see my family for Noche Bueña and opening of presents at midnight, which I am all excited for. Tomorrow will be another set of fun festivities with Kayo's side of the family. Our Christmas cards also arrived just in time and I'm pretty excited to give them away! This year, we decided to take individual black and white portraits instead of just one with everybody in it. Kayo designed the cards himself and I just love how they turned out! The girls' photos are Read More
Emma’s Donut Party
Our daughter Emma turned two on December first and we threw her a small party at my in laws' home last weekend. With a new baby in the mix, Kayo and I knew that we'd have our hands full and our pockets on the low around this time, but we really wanted Emma to have her own special celebration with family and friends so we started planning and preparing early, way before I gave birth. We decided on a simple, easy and inexpensive theme which also turned out to be lots of fun - a donut party! It's also something we were sure Emma would enjoy. As usual, I did all the party decor Read More
To Our Sweet Emma…
Dearest Emma, You have such an interestingly distinct personality. Papa and I are constantly amazed by you and who you are becoming... You are sweet and tender, but you're also very strong and brave. You're usually quiet, but you also love to sing and you're such an excellent little speaker. A lot of times, you have this serious look on your face but when you do smile or laugh, you light up the entire room! I love how you and your sister Summer have your own private little jokes and that you always make her laugh. I love how you adore Jo and how you always try to calm her down when Read More
Naming You.
Dear Jo, On October 16th, 2014, you came into our world. It's been one month today. Much like your older sister Summer, you arrived as early as you safely could, just over 37 weeks. I called Lola Nelia at 1AM because your mom started having contractions in the middle of the night. Lola came to watch Summer and Emma while Lolo drove us to St Luke's in QC. From that point, the whole process of going to the delivery room and having you took less than 3 hours. Mom tells me that she only pushed twice and there you were. There you were. And here you are. If I'm honest, we did have some Read More
Our Jo
Exactly three weeks ago, on October 16 at 4:44 am, I gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl. She wasn't expected to arrive for another week or two but she decided to come early! And I'm pretty glad she did because she turned out to be quite a big one! The biggest of my three, she weighed just a little over 7lbs and was 51cm long. If she had waited a few more weeks, I probably would have had a much more difficult time giving birth. But she did come and it was such a pleasant surprise! Kayo and I named her Frances Josephine. Kayo has always wanted to name one of his kids after a Read More
The Girls’ All White Gallery Wall
You have probably noticed it by now, but I really enjoy my daughters' room. I like being in there with them and I like fixing it up for them (okay, maybe I do it for myself too). It's probably the effect of seeing too many cute little girls' rooms on Pinterest. But aside from decorating it with their own artwork and craft projects, I also like to make art myself to put in their room. So recently, I put together a small wall gallery of illustrations, paintings and photographs for their room. I really like the idea of an all white gallery and thought it would be perfect for the girls Read More
A Baby Shower for Two!
I had a really great day last Sunday! My sister in law, Martine, who is also expecting, threw me and Amy (my other sister in law!) a very sweet and intimate baby shower at La Creperie in Calderon St., San Juan. My childhood friends who I haven't hung out with in a while and some cousins came to celebrate with us. Martine did such a great job putting together the shower. It already looks really pretty inside La Creperie, but she made our table even prettier and a little more personal by dressing it up with colorful French macarons, fresh flowers and sweet-smelling lavender soap for each Read More
Summer and Dylan’s Beach Party
My little ball of sunshine, Summer, turned three last Saturday. The next day, Dylan, my nephew and Kayo's godson, also celebrated his birthday. And because these two special days fell on a long holiday weekend here in the Philippines, my in laws decided to make a family vacation out of it and take the celebration to our favorite beach in San Juan, La Union. It was a great idea! It was also something we've never done before because we usually just throw our kids' parties at home, so everybody was pretty excited about it. We put together a simple double birthday party last Saturday right at Read More
DIY Toy: Emma’s La Pomme Handsewn Soft Doll
While organizing the girls' closet one morning last week, I found a sew-it-yourself soft doll kit, still unopened. It was a Christmas gift to me and Emma last year from some of our good friends. I hadn't had a chance to work on it since we received it half a year ago, but on that morning, I found myself in the mood to sew so I decided to finally open it and make my daughter a soft doll. It's a simple stuffed doll that looks like a little pillow so it's actually very easy to make. Step by step instructions were included in the kit as well as all the basic materials necessary, such as the Read More
