Our sweet little Emma just turned one! We threw her a small party last Sunday that was pretty and sweet, just like her. The theme was “teacups and parasols.” Kayo came up with the idea a few months ago and we’ve been so excited since!

In contrast to Summer’s wild safari party last August, Emma’s was very quaint and dainty. I made paper parasols, pom poms, and paper fans for decor, all in sweet pastel colors. The kids came in fancy tea party attire and even the mommies came in pretty afternoon dresses.
We were most excited about the food. We wanted to serve all cakes and pies so Kayo and his Mom baked a storm the night before and made an apple pie, a couple of peach pies and also some sausage rolls. We also bought our favorite cheesecake from Uno, which was the cake we served at our wedding. It was evident that everybody loved it because it was the first to disappear! There was also rum cake, chocolate cake and some lemon squares. Emma’s birthday cake was a strawberry shortcake from Conti’s. So yummy!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a tea party without tea. So Kayo and I served a selection of our favorite brews (We love tea!). We had Indian Chai, peppermint, green tea and some iced rooibos-vanilla and lemon-ginger. Guests had some fun trying out the different teas, the chai being the most popular.
It was cloudy that day but thankfully, it didn’t rain during the party. It was nice and cool so the kids had fun running around my in-laws’ garden. We also set up a little kiddie table with crayons, coloring sheets (which I made myself), a toy tea set and bowls of marshmallows for the children to enjoy.
The party was actually very simple. There was no program, the decor was minimal and it was really just a small gathering of family and friends, but Kayo and I were very pleased because it turned out quite well. The guests loved the food and the kids had fun. Most importantly, Emma was much celebrated and showered with love. Even if she seemed to have no idea it was her party, she looked like the star of the ball in the pretty dress her Tita Martine had given her (Thank you, Tita!).
In behalf of our little girl, we are grateful to all those who came to the party and helped make it a memorable event. Thank you for showering Emma with gifts, love and kisses. And lastly, thank you for having tea with us. We had a lovely time! 🙂

I love pastels and this is a wonderful theme for such a sweet and intimate party to celebrate a cute little girl.
Indeed! 🙂 Thanks Ceemee!
