So after crashing at my in laws for almost two weeks while our new cabinets were being painted and installed, we have finally moved in for good at our new condominium unit. I am very happy to say that we love it here, the girls included. They thoroughly enjoy having their own room, a space to run around just outside our doorstep and other children who live in the building to play with.
We’re so excited to have finally moved, we decided to stay in for Valentines day and celebrate simply. As usual, Summer and I did a little arts and crafts during the day and I made them very red treats to enjoy – strawberry jello and strawberry ice pops! At the end of the day, after the kids have gone to sleep, Kayo and I went out – to our balcony (!) and had a picnic while watching a movie on his iPad. Instead of flowers, he got me sushi, which I think is just as sweet because I love the stuff! It was a quiet and chilly night so being out in the balcony turned out to be very pleasant. I loved how we celebrated Valentines at home and I will always, always remember how simple, yet fun it was.
The last week, aside from work, the regular chores and baby duties, I have also been busy fixing up the place, putting things in order and making it feel more like our home and sanctuary. It’s my favorite part about moving.
A few days ago, my handyman dad came over with my mom and spent the day helping me install frames and artwork, giving empty walls a bit more personality and charm. I love how putting up art and photographs instantly makes a room feel cozy!
It has actually been a tiring couple of weeks getting everything in order and also having to deal with the girls learning to adjust to the new sleeping arrangement (I’ve been hopping from our room to the girls’ room almost every night the last week!). I even got a little sick in the middle of it all! But I really don’t mind having to stay in because it’s pleasant and I’m enjoying it here. While everything is fresh and new, I’m relishing every moment, making sure our new home is warm and cozy to the detail.
