I love watercolor. Many say it’s a very difficult medium to use because it’s hard to control and it’s very unpredictable. However, I personally think that those are the very same reasons why the art of watercolor is so charming. I like it because it’s very fresh-looking and I like that it’s surprising the way that the colors turn out differently once it dries.
I am really just a beginner and I’m only starting to discover my own style in watercolor illustration so I’m always on the lookout for inspiration. I have chosen three watercolor artists whose styles I like and, maybe in one way or another, are influencing my art. I love looking at their work because it always makes me want to paint more and experiment more. So whether you’re into watercolor or some other medium, I hope these artwork inspire you too.
She is my favorite. Not just because she is good at what she does but also because she is such a sweet and hip Mom to her son. She paints with him and they always do arts and crafts together, something I would really love to do with my girls. I’ve been following her blog for two years now and her work never ceases to inspire me. The animals she paints are always pretty but playful at the same time.
I really like her watercolor patterns which are used on fabric. Here are prints she is selling on Etsy.
She is a french illustrator who lives in Paris and who specialises in fashion and food illustration. I adore her very light and loose style. Her kitchen art and recipe paintings are so much fun. I’d love to hang her prints on my kitchen wall!
