My best friend Eyette got married last Saturday and it was a beautiful and love-filled day I am sure I will never forget! But the week before that, I, together with our other girlfriends, took her away from the city for a relaxing and “anything goes” kind of weekend at the beach.
Being the only mom in the group, I barely get to go out with these girls, much less go on out of town trips with them. But because we’re celebrating something very special, I made sure we planned and prepared early. I made sure to brief Kayo and the kids too — it was only for a night after all! I had to leave very early that Saturday morning to meet up with my friends, so the night before I had made sure my daughters knew that I wouldn’t be around anymore when they woke up. “Mom is going to have a sleepover!” was what I told them from the very start.
We took Eyette to a small but very serene beach resort at Laiya, Batangas called Acuaverde. They have limited rooms so even if the place was all booked up, it never felt crowded. We’re glad to have gotten rooms months before!
It was a simple weekend getaway but everyone had a grand time, specially the bride. I think the main reason for it was because we were just together. We feasted, got massages, locked ourselves in the room watching movies, talked into the night and shared with one another our stories, hopes, disappointments and dreams. We laughed our hearts out and we cried like fools over love and romance. We celebrated Eyette. We freaked and shrieked at the thought of her tying the knot (Although I think that was mostly me freaking haha). We looked forward with hope into the exciting future she was about to have.
We did accomplish our goal of giving Eyette a relaxing escape from the whirlwind of wedding preparation, but I must admit, I think it was a much needed refreshing escape for me too.
Thank you, girls for this unforgettable weekend. Our insanity combined somehow makes my crazy life a little bit more sane (Did that even make any sense?! Haha). And of course, loads of love and bestest wishes to our dear newly married friend, Eyette! Remember, we will always be here for you.
