I love babies and I love celebrating them! So I was so happy to have been able to throw my sis-in-law, Martine, a sweet and intimate “Oh Baby” shower last Jan 11. It was a team effort with my mother-in-law and Amy, my other sister-inlaw. We held it at my in-laws’ home and aside from family, Martine’s close female friends where also there to celebrate with us.
As usual, I took care of the party details. It was quite easy to plan for because I very well know what Martine likes. It’s all dots, flowers, rustic and chic elements in greys, browns and blush with a touch of gold. It’s also Martine’s first baby girl so I was very excited to go all feminine!
I designed the invite myself, as well as the round Oh Baby table decor and juice bottle pendants. I brought out glass jars which I’ve saved over the months, wrapped them in pretty patterned scrapbooking paper and used them as flower vases which we placed on the tables.
We didn’t plan to have any games or activities like what is usually done in baby showers but I thought it would be nice if each guest wrote a heartfelt message to the expecting Mom and her little darling. And because I know Martine is a memory keeper and uses the Project Life scrapbooking system, I made it convenient for her by designing PL sized cards, which I included in the table centrepieces for the guests to write on. True enough, Martine loved them!
My “big” decor piece was a fabric banner which says “Little Dreamer.” I placed it over the dessert table during the shower but it’s also my gift to Marts and her baby – something to put up their bedroom wall or nursery. (I’m actually still working on it, sewing the edges and making it prettier…You’ll get it soon, Marts!)
The delicious spread was prepared by Amy and Mom. It was a sandwich bar complete with a varied selection of breads, three different fillings, vegetables, condiments and hot French onion soup! Yum! There was also a toaster and a grill available for heating and pressing sandwiches. I enjoyed the food very much. I’m pretty sure the guests, Marts and the little one in her tummy did too!
It turned out to be a very pleasant “homemade” afternoon party. Martine and her little princess were showered with much love and well wishes, just as we had hoped would happen.
Babies are tremendous blessings so we are certainly very excited for Martine, her husband Ton and their son, (soon-to-be kuya) Vito. It won’t be long and we’ll finally meet the lovely new addition to the growing Cosio family!
May God go with you through labor and delivery, Martine! We love you and your precious baby girl.
Martine blogged about this event too! Check it out here.
