In the face of all the many different things that were cancelled or put on hold this year, I managed to push through with my 100 Day Project. I've been taking part in this challenge for the last 5 years and I always enjoy the process of delving into a new creative venture and seeing it through to completion. This time, I decided to create 100 rubberstamps. I thought that going through with it in the midst of the pandemic would somehow give me some sense of normalcy because, let's face it, almost nothing is as it used to be. I also thought that the quarantine would give me more than enough Read More
SEPTEMBER: Garden Impressions With Claude Monet Part 1
If David Hockney prompted us to explore the minute details of the indoors last March, Claude Monet inspired us to look outside and enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors throughout the month of September. Unfortunately, we didn't go walking in the woods or traipsing by a bubbling brook, as one would imagine Monet doing to get inspiration for his work back in the day. It would have been wonderful if we had but the girls and I could only go as far as the backyard garden. As city folks though, I actually feel that we are, in fact, quite lucky to have an access to our own lush patch of Read More
From Our Windows At Night
A Poem & A Shadowbox You set fire to the freedom we builtWhile we're home protecting our youngYou threaten to shut us up, clamp us downBut we won't cower, we're not done From the kitchen counter, from the balcony,From the nursery and the nightstand,We will take our shots, write down our rights, our authority, our fightWe will launch our words into the darknessFrom our windows at nightWhile we sing our lullabiesLet our light burn ever so bright Because we won't stop speakingOur truths that you so terrorizeWe will sing if we have toDance, make art, write poems,Tell it to our Read More

Instax & Crafts: Felt Mistletoe
There are many stories and versions of how "kissing under the mistletoe" came to be. One of the more popular ones is how it was considered to be a symbol of good luck, friendship and love in Norse mythology which eventually developed into this custom familiar to us all. While I don't particularly subscribe to that custom (kiss under the mistletoe or have bad luck befall you), I do like having meaningful decor that are fun to make. So I came up with this super easy, inexpensive, no-sew felt mistletoe project that doubles as an Instax display, which you can make at home in a blitz if you'd Read More
Papel at Pandikit: 100 Tiny Collages
I finally completed my 100 Day Project for this year and I enjoyed it so much that it makes me a little sad to end it. Like what I've mentioned many times before, I like playing along this activity because it pulls me out of my comfort zone and gives me an opportunity to creatively express myself. 100 Tiny Collages did just that and more. I never thought I'd be able to bring to surface so many thoughts and ideas in my head through it. It turned out be way more than just cutting up magazines and gluing pictures together. It was introspective, revelatory as well as comforting. Most of the Read More
Micro Scrapbooking with the Pioneer DIY Planner
One of my favorite things to do to unwind is memory keeping. I enjoy taking stock of things we've done as a family, places we've been to, our learning experiences and milestones. While I can't keep track of every single moment, I do my best to document what I can -- things I know my kids and I would love to remember a few years from now. I get a lot of questions from friends and online followers about how I'm able to religiously scrapbook and document family memories when I already have my hands full with responsibilities at home. I always say that it's something you choose to work for Read More
Stamp By Stamp
I'm always thankful for opportunities to teach arts and crafts, specially when it's rubber-stamp carving. It's not a very popular thing people want to learn, unlike calligraphy or pottery, so whenever I come across a bunch of people who are eager to learn and willingly set aside time for a class, I'm ecstatic! The last few months I've had the chance to partner with a festival, some friends and an events studio in Makati to hold Basic Rubberstamp Carving Workshops. KATIPUNAN ART FESTIVAL 2017 Last October 21, I took part in Katipunan Arts Festival which is a much awaited, multi-event Read More
Magic And Meaning
A week into Advent and we've been busy! In keeping with our family traditions, the girls and I made an Advent Calendar to help make our countdown to Christmas memorable and meaningful. We set aside an afternoon at Kendo to work on it together. I must say, this year's may be my favorite one so far! Just like what we always do, we made use of stuff we already had at home: an empty cardboard box, assorted board paper, markers, washi tapes, ribbon and crepe paper. I took care of creating the little compartments inside the cardboard box (which turned out to be a lot trickier than I had imagined!) Read More
Merry Making with Instax
My first Christmas event of the year was with Fujifilm Instax last week at The Atrium in Megamall. They invited me to conduct another Instax & Crafts. This time, we made table top Christmas trees which can also be used as Instax photo holders. Again, I was amazed at the participants' crafting skills and how they maximised the materials given them to make these adorable miniature trees! I think they're perfect as a holiday dinner centrepiece. Plus, they are super inexpensive to make. Make them in different sizes, colors and go classic or crazy with the ornaments - anything goes!
