Our daughter Emma turned two on December first and we threw her a small party at my in laws' home last weekend. With a new baby in the mix, Kayo and I knew that we'd have our hands full and our pockets on the low around this time, but we really wanted Emma to have her own special celebration with family and friends so we started planning and preparing early, way before I gave birth. We decided on a simple, easy and inexpensive theme which also turned out to be lots of fun - a donut party! It's also something we were sure Emma would enjoy. As usual, I did all the party decor Read More
Surprises, Hugs and Kisses!
I love surprises! I also love giving people a pleasant surprise. That's exactly what my family and I did for my Mom on her 67th birthday. We, in the family, had all just come from a tough few weeks so my brothers and I really wanted to make sure she had a happy and wonderful birthday celebration. Our Mom most definitely deserved it!The week before, we started planning for a small surprise party for her. My brothers and I don't see each other very often so we did it all through text and over phone calls. We set it for the afternoon before her actual birthday which turned out to be a holiday. We Read More
Summer and Dylan’s Beach Party
My little ball of sunshine, Summer, turned three last Saturday. The next day, Dylan, my nephew and Kayo's godson, also celebrated his birthday. And because these two special days fell on a long holiday weekend here in the Philippines, my in laws decided to make a family vacation out of it and take the celebration to our favorite beach in San Juan, La Union. It was a great idea! It was also something we've never done before because we usually just throw our kids' parties at home, so everybody was pretty excited about it. We put together a simple double birthday party last Saturday right at Read More
Teacups And Parasols at Emma’s First Birthday
Our sweet little Emma just turned one! We threw her a small party last Sunday that was pretty and sweet, just like her. The theme was "teacups and parasols." Kayo came up with the idea a few months ago and we've been so excited since! Emma's Invite: Watercolor illustration and layout by Nica Cosio In contrast to Summer's wild safari party last August, Emma's was very quaint and dainty. I made paper parasols, pom poms, and paper fans for decor, all in sweet pastel colors. The kids came in fancy tea party attire and even the mommies came in pretty afternoon dresses. We were most Read More
Dylan’s Farmers Market Birthday Party
Our nephew, Dylan, also Kayo's godson, celebrates his birthday the day after Summer's. So our family has been on party mode all month. Dylan's party was held yesterday and his Mom, Amy, came up with the coolest party theme: Farmers Market! She put all the effort in putting together a delicious food buffet and it really turned out looking great. There were fresh fruit and vegetables, candied walnuts (winner!), bread, corn on the cob, homemade baby back ribs (another winner!), muffins, fried tofu, a bottomless supply of yummy dalandan juice and instead of the traditional birthday cake, Dylan had Read More
Summer’s Safari Party
"Wayon, zeebor, jaff, ippo…(Lion, zebra, giraffe, hippo…)" That's Summer naming her favorite animals. She's been really into animals and so when it was time for me and Kayo to plan her second birthday party, it was easy to come up with a theme we knew she'd love. Our little "Summer's Safari" party was last Sunday, August the 25th, at my parents-in-law's warm and lovely home. Thankfully, despite a little rain, it turned out well and most of the people we invited made it safe and dry. Summer seemed to have enjoyed a lot herself and I was very pleased with the outcome. The truth is that I had Read More
Emma’s Christening Party: Pretty and Personal
Last week, my four month old baby girl, Emma Louise, was finally baptised. We welcomed her to the Catholic Church and celebrated with family and close friends at one of my favorite places to eat in our neighborhood, The Clubhouse. We usually hold parties at home and make decor ourselves but holding this one at a different venue did not stop me from crafting little pieces to make the event more personal and, of course, pretty! My sister-in-law, Martine of DaintyMom, contributed a bunch of lovely lovely washi tapes from Paper Chic Studio which I went crazy with! I realized there are so many Read More
