100 Rubberstamps in Quarantine
In the face of all the many different things that were cancelled or put on hold this year, I managed to push through with my 100 Day Project. I've been taking part in this challenge for the last 5 years and I always enjoy the process of delving into a new creative venture and seeing it through to completion. This time, I decided to create 100 rubberstamps. I thought that going through with it in the midst of the pandemic would somehow give me some sense of normalcy because, let's face it, almost nothing is as it used to be. I also thought that the quarantine would give me more than enough Read More
Garden Walk DIY Activity Zine
These days, unable to explore and go on trips as much as we usually did pre-Covid, the backyard garden is a piece of heaven. There is an almost-too-small- swing which my kids always gravitate to. They sometimes set up a table and some chairs then pretend to have a tea party or they lay out a blanket where they relax and enjoy their snacks. I try to join when I can. When I do, my favorite thing to do is watch the birds flutter about the trees or spot the many different flying insects that circle the lawn. It's quite surprising to discover the variety of wildlife that thrive in and frequent this Read More
Collected and Sewn : DIY Notebooks
I love paper. There's just something very soothing about working with it. And it's precisely why many of the craft projects I do involve cutting, pasting, folding, decorating and printing on paper. But even with this great big love for paper products, I do acknowledge the fact that I really ought to be conserving and recycling them more instead of hoarding and tossing them right away. This led me to upcycling projects such as collaging, making my own paper and junk journaling -- just simple, fun ways to keep me from wasting paper so easily. Lately, I've been really enjoying compiling Read More
No 11 Craft For Christmas: Wreath Make Over!
I bought this bare Christmas wreath a few years back which I decorate differently every few years. One time I used book paper pages and the next year, I used fabric scraps. I really prefer upcycling things I find around my home instead of buying new ornaments. As an Advent Calendar activity the other day, the girls helped me dress up the same old wreath. This time, we used leftover felt and glitter tape I had in storage! Each of the girls made two felt ornaments which I helped assemble using hot glue. We added the starburst cutouts later on using glitter tape from Craft Easy Read More
Handmade Paper
A couple of weeks ago, my friend, Berry, came over our shop to teach me and the girls how to make paper. I had seen her posts on Instagram of the beautiful speckled papers she has created at home on her own and I was smitten. I just had to ask her to show us how and it was so cool of her to have said yes. I was surprised that it wasn't so difficult either! Given the proper tools, anybody can definitely do it. I'm sure there are many different techniques to make paper but the system Berry came up with is simple, inexpensive and kid-friendly. We totally enjoyed it and loved how our papers Read More

Februllage + Junk Journal
I found a fun excuse (not that I really needed one) to keep making collages last month when I discovered Februllage on Instagram. Februllage is a month-long collage-a-day challenge which is an initiative of The Scandinavian Collage Museum and The Edinburgh Collage Collective. Much like The 100 Day Project, it is an open-for-all creative community building activity except one that is specifically designed for collage artists and those interested in getting into collage art making. A calendar of prompts was provided at the beginning of the month for all interested participants to Read More

All The Christmas Fuss
For this year's Advent Calendar, I let the girls have complete artistic control. We used scrap cardboard and toilet paper rolls which they turned into a mini Christmas village with trees, houses, shops, lamp posts and cars -- so cute! The very last, for the 25th day, is a little nativity scene. Then I was the one who came up with each day's surprise or activity. Kayo and I were away on a trip last week so we haven't been able to open them up with them. Now we're back and the kids are happy we get to do the activities together. Last night was movie night and we watched a classic -- Read More
