The first quarter of this year has been real fun for workshops! I haven't had the chance to blog about them so here's a round of the craft projects I've taught and classes I've held since the beginning of the year. JAN 21: New Year, New You I kicked off 2018 with a Creative Journaling Workshop with Maartsy. As part of their "New Year, New You" workshop series, they invited me to share my process on how to document life events and highlights in creative and practical ways. Journaling has very much worked for me the last few years and I think my days and weeks have become more meaningful Read More
Arts & Crafts For All!
I've always said that arts and crafts is for everyone. And we proved just that at the Instax Coffee & Crafts event that happened last Oct 14 at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Convergys Tower, Ayala Avenue. We were happy that the place was packed despite the rainy weather that weekend and also surprised to see a very varied mix of participants. There were young students, teenagers, yuppies, mothers and a good number of men! That afternoon, I prepared two craft projects. First, we made Instax cork board displays and then after that, we decorated journal covers. Both activities involved some Read More
A Little Bit Of Everything
So the last month that I had not been blogging has been quite eventful and very memorable. I have been learning a lot about pacing myself and designing my own breaks. I have also been enjoying being busy — which is not always the case, so I'm both surprised and thankful. I think I'm enjoying myself because I find I'm working with people I love to work with and doing things I love to do. Hard not to have a good amount of fun even if work is tough and trying. So let me give you a quick rundown of what's been keeping me and Kayo occupied lately as well as some fun things we have been up Read More
An Open Art Space
Our little shop at Cubao Expo, Kendo Creative, has grown and changed a lot since we opened more than a year and a half ago. And I'm happy to say that the way it has changed and evolved is pretty much how we envisioned this place to be from the very start. It makes me so thankful and excited to be part of it and witness it all. Last summer, we were given the opportunity to expand and double our original size as we took over the space right behind us. It wasn't exactly something we asked for or planned but it sort of just fell on our lap and was an offer we knew we had to take. Turns out, Read More
Tayo Na Sa Antipolo!
Craft Camp's main mission is to nurture the creative spirit and to do so out of one's regular routine, away from the busyness of the city. If, as organizers, our daily routines already heavily include crafts, you could say we have an insatiable desire for it. And we wish to infect others with it. So the five of us — Alessa Lanot, Mikko Sumulong, Mansy Abesamis, Macy Alcaraz and I have set out again to put together another makers camp. This time, it was a one-day getaway to Antipolo, Rizal, which we ran for two consecutive days. Participants chose to join either the 12th, Saturday, or the 13th, Read More
History And Art
My family and I have been having a pretty great summer! The surprising thing is that it’s not because we went on a vacation or a trip (because we really haven’t!) but because we are fortunate to have been given opportunities to be involved in a number of different interesting events in the city. I’m particularly really thankful to have been part of Design Week PH last month with the Craft Camp PH team — Alessa Lanot, Mansy Abesamis, Mikko Sumulong and Macy Alacaraz. Our last project together was an out of town camp which happened October last year so it really has been quite a while. It was Read More
Partying Hard! (Part I)
It has been a couple of exciting months for us at Craft Party PH and we are really grateful for the support we are getting from so many different people. We've been working very hard putting together monthly events and workshops and it's all been worth it because of the relationships we are building and new things we are learning. So here is an update of what we've been up to lately...Also, taking this opportunity to thank the many people and wonderful brands who have shown their support to our little crafty community. SPOOKY STAMPS Mia and I, being Moms, have always wanted to do events Read More
Lately in C&V…
It feels like there's a thousand things going on in our lives right now and I've just been too slow updating the blog (huhu) so I've decided to make a quick(ish) round up of my favorite things, projects and happenings as of late... JO TURNS ONE The family drove up to La Union last week for Craft Camp PH and the day before camp was our Jo's first birthday! We didn't get to prepare a party but we did gather friends and family who were there the same weekend for lunch and cake at Flotsam and Jetsam Artist Beach Hostel. It was short and simple and was really just about doing something with the Read More
