I know it’s so cliche to draw water falls. I’ve seen too many cheesy paintings of them mounted on really tacky frames. But I drew this because one of my best memories — one of pure and indescribable joy — was in the middle of white water rafting in the Aayung River in Bali where my husband and I saw a water fall. It wasn’t huge but the water was pretty strong. We climbed out of the raft, stood underneath the fall and let the cold, rushing water wash our bodies. I think the reason why I will never forget it is because at that moment we felt like children with no worries at all and the sight of it caused this great joy to well up from the depths of us. There was energy underneath it that made us feel weak, awed, refreshed, giddy and excited all at the same time! It was so delightful, my husband and I giggled and laughed the entire time. That moment was simply priceless.
