Summer and Emma, with their Papa, put together a video about how our family celebrated Emma’s sixth birthday last December. At that time, Kayo had just finished a big project. So after having a hectic production schedule for weeks which kept him away, we were happy to finally have so much time to just be together playing and exploring — from ice skating to carousel rides, from horseback riding to a safari adventure!

We went on a series of mini adventures which Emma and her sisters had been wanting to do. But I’ll stop right here and let their video show you instead:
If you’re curious and you think these are activities you’d like to do or places you’d like to visit with family this summer, I’ve listed them down below and added some useful details you should know:
ICE SKATING at SM Megamall
If you’re from Metro Manila then you’ll most likely already know about this place.
If you go right at opening time and during a weekday then you have more chances of catching an empty rink. But it’s definitely fun and is one way to escape Manila’s intense heat! All day pass is at P450 but you can already have enough of a good time skating for an hour at P199.
HORSEBACK RIDING at EL KABAYO
WEBSITE
There are two El Kabayo ranches and the one we went to is at Clark Freeport along Gil Puyat Avenue.
It was really refreshing because the stables are surrounded by lush, towering trees and you’ve got wide open grassy land to gallop away to. Also, the horses look very healthy and are well taken care of. We opted for a 30-minute ride together around the picnic grove and that cost us less than 300 per head.
They offer longer rides too that take you into the woods and along the river if you have more time or are looking for a more adventurous riding experience.
ZOOBIC SAFARI
Subic Bay Freeport Zone
WEBSITE
We didn’t really plan to come here but after horseback riding and realizing we had a lot of time, we spontaneously decided to check it out. It was about a one hour and a half drive from El Kabayo to Zoobic. Entrance fee is P695 per head but if you plan the trip in advance you can actually score promos online at 50% off.

Sadly, the park is poorly maintained. Some of the sites are closed and look like they have been “under maintenance” for far too long. I can say, though, that the tigers, which are the main highlights of this zoo, look majestic and seem to be given the best care possible.
I hope you enjoyed that! Make the most of the summer to explore new places and try new things ☀️
