The last few days, I’ve been working on small, simple craft projects during my free time. Some of them I do with the kids, some I do by myself to wind down. I guess you could say I’m trying to catch up on my crafting. After that first trimester of my pregnancy when I was feeling too sick to zone in on making art, I now find myself full of ideas and my hands just itching to make and create. So I’m taking it one afternoon at a time, carving a little here and painting a little there.
I realize when you immediately act on an urge to create, more creative ideas are birthed until you find yourself overflowing with it that you just have to keep creating and sharing. And that’s a good thing.
I’d like to be someone alive with creativity.
Last night, after putting the kids to bed, I spent my down time working on this watercolor illustration. I already knew how I wanted it to look so making it didn’t take very long. I made it for the girls and put it on their bedroom wall.
Big, challenging projects are great, but sometimes, these small and spur of the moment bursts of creativity are just what I need to keep going. Whichever the case, being able to do and make things you like is refreshing and delightful, pretty much like these frozen treats I painted.
I hope you have a delightfully creative weekend!
