I usually paint to de-stress and it always works. The past week during free times when kids are asleep and I’m already feeling sick of doing chores, I’ve just been watercolor doodling. It’s a great way to clear the mind and rest the spirit. It’s almost like praying to me. I pick up a brush, open up my paint set and without thinking or planning too much, I draw. Lately, I end up playing with flowers and geometric shapes, making patterns. Triangles are my current favorites, just drawing them over and over in different sizes.
I love those moments when I start out with no plan or idea but go ahead and just create. Then later on, I find my groove and everything just comes together beautifully. That’s how these paintings pretty much happened. I’m quite happy with how they turned out and how much more calm I’ve become after each of these painting sessions. I’m not sure what to do with them yet but I have some ideas in mind and it’s pretty exciting.
So if your week has been too stressful to bear and maybe like me, you’ve run out of money to spend at the spa, just pick up a brush and some paint, try doodling and maybe you’ll end up with something really beautiful. Perhaps you’ll even find rest and feel much better. 🙂
