Three days to go till Valentines Day! Have you decided what to get your special someone? Have you made plans? I think this occasion, much like Christmas, is a perfect time to share some handmade cheer. It’s impossible to run out of DIY projects and ideas to celebrate this day of hearts. I know I have a long list of projects I’d like to try out but my schedule and life won’t permit so let me just share this one which is very simple and easy —embroidered heart cards!
I made use of what I had lying around the house: crochet thread, embroidery needle and some board paper cut into postcard size.
Using the embroidery needle, I poked holes onto the cards to form the shape I wanted. In this case, hearts. Take note that the gap between the holes don’t have to be too close together. It really depends on the outcome you like.
And this is the part where it gets fun… Simply sew through the holes, whichever way you feel like, until the thread creates a heart shape. I suggest sewing along the outline to define the shape even more. Then, using a brush pen, I added a short greeting or message on the blank spaces.
Look at all the different ways I sewed my hearts. Fun and simple eh? And by all means, go crazy! Make it loose like mine or really dense and tight. It’s up to you. The important thing is, it’s a labor of love!
And to those who have no plans or who are still in the process of making plans on Valentine’s Day, come make things and learn new crafts with us at TriNoma Activity Center for A HeArty Valentine. We have an awesome line up of activities all afternoon. There will be craft workshops, live demos, live heart painting with Egg Fiasco, Kris Abrigo and Polish artist, Seikon.
