I do believe that Valentine’s is not exclusively for people in romantic relationships. It’s a celebration of love and is meant for those who love and are loved. It’s also the perfect time to celebrate friendships. So in Craft Party PH, we invited a bunch of our friends to get together for a relaxing afternoon of gal-time.
We had it on the rooftop of Mia’s parents’ beautiful home. We had the weather on our side too and all the natural light one could ask for to take gorgeous, instagram-worthy pictures.
And what would a party with crafters be without even a bit of handmade and DIY? Mabby of Mabby Makes herself volunteered to style our little party. And with the help of the other ladies she set up a simple, chic and romantic table arrangement for everyone! That handmade geometric heart wall piece is love, don’t you think? Of course, there were paper flowers too — Mabby’s signature craft piece!
Kim of Pulseras By Kim made cute temporary tattoos specially for this event and Karla of Kraft Kart, arrived with fresh flowers which perfectly matched the set up. Even the food had reds and pinks in them!
Everything looked lovely. If there was one thing that didn’t work out so well, it was that the wind blew pretty strong and carried everything away with it but then it was also so cool and refreshing that we just couldn’t complain. It was, in fact, fun and comical — chasing paper plates in the wind and taping things in place.
The afternoon progressed quite spontaneously. While having snacks we each had our turn telling something about ourselves. Some of us shared more personal things which made for an interesting and insightful conversation. We swapped ideas and beliefs about love and relationships. There was an abundance of laughter as well, as Fhely, our ever helpful and trustworthy team member, pulled “hugot lines” one after another. It was really great. I enjoyed hearing from these ladies and learning more about their lives.
If there was one thing I took home with me after our Galentines Party (and believe me there was so much more), it was an even greater respect for these women. Every one of them who was there lived lives of purpose and passion. I knew that even before, but spending an afternoon with them catching up made me see just how actively they pursued their dreams and made things happen. None of them lives a perfect life. None of them have a flawless past either but every one, just the same, seize each day with hopeful determination and a little humor. Many of them have regular jobs but they make time for crafts knowing that it creates a healthy balance in their lives. Most of them have children to take care of, a business or two (or more!) to handle and many other adult responsibilities chasing them but somehow, quite magically, they are able to keep things in check and running. Even those of us who are single, I totally respect, because of how hardworking and full of dream and vision they are about their lives. These women, whether they see it or not, are generous. They give so much to their families as wives, mothers and daughters, and at the same give so much to society as entrepreneurs, crafters and makers. Even at that, they’re all still willing and enthusiastic to try out new things and acquire new skills. I mean, I am amazed.
To end, I just what to tell you all — Mia, Fhely, Kim, Heiz, Mabby, Chelle, Karla and to all the other hardworking women who are part of the Craft Party community — that you live amazing lives. Your families will back me up on this, I’m sure. What you do and who you are make this world better. Keep doing what you’re doing because they count and one day all the hard work, the sweat, the tears, the sleepless nights (and napless days), will be nothing in the light of all the blessing you will reap. From the bottom of my heart… Thank you for sharing your lives with me and with Craft Party. You enrich this community. Your selfless love for your families, your work and your craft is, indeed, something to honor and celebrate.
