Amazed. Overwhelmed. Grateful. Excited. In four words, it’s how I basically feel about this little craft movement Mia Sison and I started just a couple of months ago. Before our first ever Craft Party, which happened in May, we hoped it would turn out well enough so people would, at least, be interested in joining another one. And to our surprise, the response has been wonderful! So, yes, we did a second run on July 4th, and this time, a fun, quirky and craft-friendly Korean restaurant at Estancia Mall, called I Am Kim, was kind enough to let us use their space, as well as feed us their yummy food! (Thank you so much, I Am Kim!)
The format was very much the same as the first one, but of course, we made some improvements and were a bit less nervous prior and during event…I think. Hehe.
Sixteen ladies and, for the first time, a man joined us that afternoon. It didn’t take long before this batch of participants got hooked on carving stamps. They easily got their groove on at the workshop proper and many of them really put their new found skill to practice afterwards. Karla, Mia’s sister who joined us that day, has gotten so good at it, she has recently started getting custom orders!
Also, aside from the delicious snacks provided by I Am Kim and their friendly staff, this batch was so lucky to have brought home so many lovely goodies from our sponsors! Everybody received fresh pure blends, from Juice Hut (of course!), eye cream from Canary Cosmetics, scrumptious cookies from Kate Baked, paper goods from Novel Kreationz, cute handmade pompom key chains from Mabby Makes and Billie Wraps from Elin. We also raffled off beautiful handcrafted neck pieces from Hey Jow, a photography package from JPatricio Snapshots (who also covered our event), and for best finished projects, we gave away vanilla gift bags from A Vanilla Story. Oh what fantastic treats! Special mention to our beloved craft supplier, Hey Kessy, for arming us with the best materials. Thank you very much to all our sponsors for supporting our Craft Party and making our participants very happy.
Aside from crafts, the thing that I really love about these events is the company. I treasure that I get to meet so many lovely people and make new friends. And it’s also quite amazing to witness others fall in love with and take delight in an activity I sincerely enjoy.
Days, even weeks, leading to an event mean lots of work for Mia and me as organizers, with added concerns for me as instructor, but once I start sharing my passion with our participants then see how they discover a new skill, I’m somehow restored! Amber, one of the participants from our last Craft Party shared a little on Instagram about her experience and said, “It was rejuvenating to be surrounded with such uplifting women and to also get my craft on.” I totally feel the same way! And Mia and I have every intention of keeping the atmosphere in our parties that way. We want it practical and not intimidating; fun and relaxed; warm and community- building. Yes, it’s about crafts but it’s also about the people and building relationships. In fact, tomorrow, a bunch of us, participants from our two previous parties, will be having a craft date called Meet & Make simply to hang out, eat, make things together and become better friends. Ah it’s all so exciting!
We also recently opened up our very own little hub online where we, crafty party people, can connect, get regular updates and draw inspiration from each other. We started @CraftPartyPH on Instagram! Do follow us, will you?
And if you would like to get the Craft Party experience first hand, we are announcing our next event happening on August 29, called HOOKED: Beginners Crochet. Twinkle Portes of @thetoothfairycrochets will be our instructor and she will teach us basic crocheting as well as share fun and doable crochet patterns. I’m so thrilled because I think I get to be student this time hihi. If interested, email us at craftpartyph@gmail.com to reserve a spot and follow @craftpartyph on Instagram for more details.
Once again, thank you to all of you who joined us at our July Craft Party! I am looking forward to doing crafts with you again. I also hope many others could party with us next time. Let’s all learn something new! 🙂
