Summer and Emma, with their Papa, put together a video about how our family celebrated Emma's sixth birthday last December. At that time, Kayo had just finished a big project. So after having a hectic production schedule for weeks which kept him away, we were happy to finally have so much time to just be together playing and exploring -- from ice skating to carousel rides, from horseback riding to a safari adventure! We went on a series of mini adventures which Emma and her sisters had been wanting to do. But I'll stop right here and let their video show you Read More
A Little Bit Of Everything
So the last month that I had not been blogging has been quite eventful and very memorable. I have been learning a lot about pacing myself and designing my own breaks. I have also been enjoying being busy — which is not always the case, so I'm both surprised and thankful. I think I'm enjoying myself because I find I'm working with people I love to work with and doing things I love to do. Hard not to have a good amount of fun even if work is tough and trying. So let me give you a quick rundown of what's been keeping me and Kayo occupied lately as well as some fun things we have been up Read More
Flipping Through 2016 + Practical Scrapbooking Tips
I finished my 2016 Project Life album over summer and I'm so excited to finally share it! I created a quick flip-through video of the whole thing which you can watch HERE. I am also sharing five practical tips I've learned over the past few years which have made scrapbooking easier and more fun for me. Whether you've been memory keeping for years or you've just begun, I hope you find a thing or two in this list that will be useful to you too! 1. Narrow It Down While I would love to document every single day and week of my family's life, I don't have the luxury of scrapbooking all the Read More
The Significance of Children’s Parties
Emma turned four. She's been eagerly awaiting this day since August. As the last birthday of the year, she has to watch her sisters get their parties first, steeping in the mild jealousy that only a middle child could truly understand. My dad came to me two weeks before and said to make sure that Emma got a birthday party too, as her sisters did. The truth is that we were always going to have one, but organizing these DIY parties really takes the steam out of us parents who already work hard on the weekdays. Nica gives up several hours of sleep to make all the drawings for decor, the craft Read More
Josephine Turns Two
I seem to have to constantly remind myself that my youngest, Jo, is not exactly a baby anymore. Sure, she's MY baby but she really is no longer a baby. I guess that's really a thing with youngest children. Because there's nobody after them they get to keep the "status" and the special treatment that goes with it. Well, Jo turned two exactly a month ago. And I really feel like that was so fast. Yes, I'm definitely ecstatic and thankful that Kayo and I are going this long without getting pregnant again, but at the same time, I'm wondering, where did all that time go? Then I look at Jo, watch Read More
Chilling Out With Summer
Summer turned five last month. I didn't make any plans for her birthday because Summer had made plans herself. The older this girl gets, the more she wants to take control of things. Of course, as much as she would like to, we don't just let her take charge of her life or let her have everything she wants. But we let her take over some things, like plan for her birthday celebration! Well...to an extent. She was pretty specific about her requests. She even drew them out so I would know exactly what she wanted and not forget. Thankfully, there wasn't anything in her list that was way Read More
Slaying Giants
As promised, here is the second part of my collected highlights of ArtBGC 2016, a ten-day art festival my husband, Kayo, organised together with LA's LeBasse Projects. During that entire time, the kids and I explored, creating our own urban adventures, while hanging out and learning from some of the best contemporary street artists of our time. I had also compiled these memories in a mini album which I really put in effort and time to work on so that when our kids are older, they can always go back to it and remember what an awesome time we had together and what an amazing group of people we Read More
A Little Bit of Magic
Last May, our family of five settled ourselves in BGC for another ten-day mural festival organised by Honeycomb Arts and Lebasse Projects. Similar to the one we had last year, a mix of artists from other countries and from here showcased their awesome skills and capabilities by painting life and magic onto walls and corners around the city. We had a spectacular time! And of course, I had set out to document every moment. Like last year, I had put together another mini album compiling our experiences. This time, though, I decided not to scrap-on-the-spot and simply enjoy each day while taking Read More
I’m Sorry. I Forgive You.
There has been so much screaming, bickering and hair pulling between these two the last couple of days, way too much for my ears to take. It has been very difficult for me, of course, but I can just imagine how much worse it is for them, having to try to understand each other when it's already so difficult to properly express themselves, much less control their emotions. I do my best to keep them at peace with each other, which sometimes means having to keep them apart. But they always find themselves wanting to play together, so they do until the next squabble starts. I know these little Read More
A Picnic Party for Jo
When Jo turned one, our family was up North in La Union for the weekend because of Craft Camp, which I co-organized. We did celebrate Jo's birthday there with a simple meal at Flotsam and Jetsam, then a stroll down the beach. Jo seemed to have really enjoyed her day! After that weekend though, Kayo and I thought it would be nice to do another simple get together back in the city with our other loved ones who we knew would want to celebrate with her too. So, the following Sunday, we threw her a little Picnic Party at Salcedo Park. Salcedo Park is one of our kids' favorite places to Read More
