It was heaven and hell. The best of times and worst of times. Bliss and pain. This was my first pregnancy. I've always wanted to be a mother and bear my own children so it was never really a question of whether I wanted to be pregnant or not. I just didn't exactly understand what I was in for. No woman can ever claim to be completely ready for it after all. My mother, mother-in-law and every other mother I was friends with were generous in sharing with me their own experiences of pregnancy at the time. From their stories, I have come to see that it is a unique journey for every woman and Read More
A Baby Shower for Two!
I had a really great day last Sunday! My sister in law, Martine, who is also expecting, threw me and Amy (my other sister in law!) a very sweet and intimate baby shower at La Creperie in Calderon St., San Juan. My childhood friends who I haven't hung out with in a while and some cousins came to celebrate with us. Martine did such a great job putting together the shower. It already looks really pretty inside La Creperie, but she made our table even prettier and a little more personal by dressing it up with colorful French macarons, fresh flowers and sweet-smelling lavender soap for each Read More
Pregnancy Favorites Part 2
I put together a list of random things I have come to really like during this current pregnancy, things that have helped me be more comfortable or simply made me feel good about myself. I posted the first five a few days ago, and now here are the other five...6. Skinny Girl Mommy Leg Cream This was a gift and I love it. It has a very mild peppermint scent that just relaxes me every time I slather it on. Perfect after a long, tiring day on my feet.7. Pregnancy Favorites Part 1
A few days ago, my sister-in-law, who is also currently pregnant, posted a lovely piece on her blog, Make It Blissful, about cravings. I loved it because I could just relate with her in so many ways. My previous two pregnancies and this current one have made me crave for different kinds of food. Some I don't even usually look for. I don't remember how many times I've sent my husband out in the middle of the night to get me something to satisfy a particular craving.I actually find it fascinating, amusing even, how the body of a pregnant woman acquires very specific desires at very specific Read More
Pregnant Again!
Three months ago I turned 30 (hooray!) and around the same time found out I'm pregnant with baby #3! It's been quite a wild ride since then, having to deal with the worst morning (more like all day) sickness I have experienced so far and at the same time, taking care of two very curious and active little girls. It has been a very tiring and nauseating few months, but now that I'm at 18 weeks and into the second trimester, I'm relieved to say that I'm feeling so much better I'm already able to go about my daily routine without feeling so sick or weak but I'm also still taking it easy, Read More
Dear Summer…
In just a few weeks, I will be giving birth to your baby sister. You will soon be an Ate and I, a mom of two. We’re about to experience a big change in our lives but of course, I don’t expect you to understand everything that’s happening. I don’t expect that you’ll know how to be a big sister right away just as much as I don’t expect to fully grasp what it’s like to have more than one child. We are both new at this, babe. And we will both learn to adapt. I want you to know that just because I can’t carry you as much because I’ll be nursing your sister half the time, it doesn’t mean that I Read More
