You have probably noticed it by now, but I really enjoy my daughters’ room. I like being in there with them and I like fixing it up for them (okay, maybe I do it for myself too). It’s probably the effect of seeing too many cute little girls’ rooms on Pinterest. But aside from decorating it with their own artwork and craft projects, I also like to make art myself to put in their room. So recently, I put together a small wall gallery of illustrations, paintings and photographs for their room.
I really like the idea of an all white gallery and thought it would be perfect for the girls room. However, I had a bunch of frames I was not using and did not want to buy anymore, so I decided to just have them painted all white. I asked my dad to do the painting for me, while I put together the pictures.
I used existing art that was already on their wall (a “Keep It Peachy” print from Frankie Magazine and and the ice cream watercolor painting) and simply put them in frames. Then I chose a couple of photos of the girls that I really like and had them printed. I also added a cute hot air balloon print cut out of a birthday card, a simple watercolor painting of a bear and another one that says “Sweet.” The paintings were super tiny, they only took me a few minutes to paint!
I only had large frames and a set of really small ones from Ikea, so I wasn’t sure how they were going to look together. But when I placed all the small ones close to each other, like a cluster, they seemed to have turned out nicely together. I also love the sweet, muted colors and how the photos blend well with the illustrations!
My girls like having those pictures up their wall but they probably don’t appreciate it as much as I do (hehe!), simply because they are only toddlers. But it really gives me so much pleasure to make their space, no matter how small, comfortable AND pretty. 🙂
I love white walls especially when you put minimalist decors on it with beautiful color contrast – so lovely to look at.
